A British luxury car manufacturer

Five step process improves overall function of the customer's business

Project overview

A leading luxury car manufacturer had no means of measuring his business processes and no visual tracking system. Through CEVA introducing a five-step system in all areas the customer could improve the overall function of his business.

Our customer's business challenges

Cultural change was required for the luxury car manufacturer’s logistics operation in order that it could move towards one of measurable business process excellence.

TRANSFORMATION STORY

We recommended that the customer adopt a standard work reset – full value stream mapping.

The first part of this was introducing the CEVA 5S system in all operating areas. 5S is a system for organizing spaces so work can be performed efficiently, effectively, and safely. This system focuses on putting everything where it belongs and keeping the workplace clean, which makes it easier for people to do their jobs without wasting time or risking injury.

Performance Management was introduced providing a new visual management system in all operating areas including daily Performance Boards & Trackers using CEVA display cubes.
To ensure continuous improvement site issue logs were linked to Quick Fix, Kaizen and Project Change tools and a site based reward & recognition scheme with Spin the Wheel monthly prizes was also initiated.

THE RESULTS

The overall function of the business has been greatly improved with multiple achievements.  Over 250 work instructions were in place in the operating areas from Day 1 of the new CEVA operation. 5S results improved from 30% to 85% in Year 1. Daily Shift Briefings and quarterly Town-Hall meetings are now held. 88 Quick Fixes, 20 Kaizens and 4 CI projects were completed in a single year and the customer alongside CEVA was a Winner in the UK Supply Chain Excellence Awards – Operations in 2019
